The choir has 65 members: 23 sopranos, 23 altos, but only 12 basses and seven tenors. We are therefore currently recruiting tenors and basses to improve the musical balance of the choir.
Musical director Robert Webb said: “It’s important to have the right mix of voices to produce a blended sound, but with such a small minority of men, it can be difficult to get the sound well-balanced.”
Membership secretary Liz Graham added: “We’re a friendly, non-auditioning choir, and we need more men to come and sing with us, so we’re making a special appeal to men: Come and join us, even if you’ve not sung before. No previous experience necessary – a willingness to learn and a joy of singing is all you need. Tenors especially welcome – and that includes women who sing tenor.”
Anyone interested can join rehearsals at 7pm on Mondays in Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, or contact Liz on firstname.lastname@example.org
