The choir has 60-70 members but roughly twice as many sopranos & altos as tenors & basses, and roughly twice as many basses as tenors. We are therefore especially keen to recruit tenors and basses to improve the musical balance of the choir.
Musical director Robert Webb said: “It’s important to have the right mix of voices to produce a blended sound, but with such a small minority of men, it can be difficult to get the sound well-balanced.”
Membership secretary Liz Graham added: “We’re a friendly, non-auditioning choir, and we need more men to come and sing with us, so we’re making a special appeal to men: Come and join us, even if you’ve not sung before. No previous experience necessary – a willingness to learn and a joy of singing is all you need. Tenors especially welcome – and that includes women who sing tenor.”
Anyone interested can join rehearsals at 7pm on Mondays in Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, or contact Liz on firstname.lastname@example.org
