About Us
Skipton Choral Society was originally set up in 2013 with the Skipton Building Society Camerata Orchestra.  The Choral Society had its inaugural concert on April 13th 2013, performing the Creation by Josef Haydn.  Since then we have had several successful concerts, including Bach's St John Passion and Mendelssohn's Elijah.  We have also sung at Grassington Festival and for the last two years held a Christmas concert in Craven Court, Skipton.
We are now an indpendent choir and seek to encourage people of all ages, experience and abilities to enjoy singing in a friendly atmosphere, while working to achieve a good standard of performance for the wider Skipton community to enjoy.  We welcome people from all walks of life to join our choir, and through a love of singing develop new skills and the confidence to perform.
We seek to encourage and work with young singers and musicians from the community, and we have worked with groups from local high schools.  We hope to bring music at an affordable level for people to enjoy, giving pleasure to audience and participants alike.
Our group is run by an enthusiastic and hardworking voluntary committee and we are embarking on a new exciting phase as we welcome our new Musical Director Toby Wardman and accompanist Jerry Davies.  We aim to bring a wide range of musical styles to our performances so we can involve more people in our group both as participants and audience.
