Skipton Choral Society

Sing with us

The choir has 60-70 members, and we are always looking to recruit new singers. We are especially keen to recruit tenors and basses, as the choir currently has almost twice as many soprano and alto voices compared to tenors and basses; that said ALL voices are very welcome!

We are a friendly, non-auditioning choir – if you are interested please either contact our Membership Secretary, Liz (membership@skiptonchoralsociety.com) or come along to a rehearsal to see what you think. Rehearsals start at 7pm on Mondays in Holy Trinity Church, Skipton.

We look forward to singing with you!

“I like to bring a bit of humour to rehearsals,” said Robert Webb, musical director of Skipton Choral Society. “It’s about singing musically and singing as a group. It’s about that blended sound.”

Musical director Robert Webb said: “It’s important to have the right mix of voices to produce a blended sound, but with such a small minority of men, it can be difficult to get the sound well-balanced.”

Membership secretary Liz Graham added: “We’re a friendly, non-auditioning choir, and we need more men to come and sing with us, so we’re making a special appeal to men: Come and join us, even if you’ve not sung before. No previous experience necessary – a willingness to learn and a joy of singing is all you need. Tenors especially welcome – and that includes women who sing tenor.”

Anyone interested can join rehearsals at 7pm on Mondays in Holy Trinity Church, Skipton, or contact Liz on membership@skiptonchoralsociety.com
